Today’s guest is Young Adult author,
Rebekkah Ford. I’m so glad you could be here! Please introduce yourself. Tell us a little
about the person behind the pen.
My name is Rebekkah Ford. I love
writing paranormal stories. I think it’s because I grew up in a family that
dealt with the unknown. When my parents were married, they were the directors
of the UFO Investigator’s League. They also investigated paranormal activity
and Bigfoot sightings.
Why did you decide to write YA
paranormal? What is the appeal?
I love young adult books, probably
because I still feel like I’m sixteen, and I’m fascinated with the paranormal
world. Not to mention I have a blast writing those type of stories.
How much research goes into your
books, and how do you tackle that?
Well, because of the way I grew up, I
don’t have to do too much research. However, I did do some on the historical
parts in my trilogy, like the legends on King Solomon. I look everything up on
the internet. Google is my friend.
What is the best comment you ever
received from a reader?
I’ve received a lot of good comments
regarding this trilogy, which makes me happy. One of the best ones I’ve
received was when a reader said Beyond the Eyes and Dark Spirits is the best
read she’s had in a long time.
Tell us a little about your writing
style? Do you plan and plot your stories, or do you just plow through them?
Before I write the story I have an
idea on what it’s going to be about. I write out all the characters and who
they are. I do a rough outline of the story, and then I start writing it,
taking notes along the way. I leave a lot of room for creativity and surprises.
Can you tell us a little about your
current work, The Devil’s Third? Is there a story behind the story?
The Devil’s Third is the third book
in The Beyond the Eyes trilogy. Right now my editor has it, so I’m starting to
get pounded with edits and rewrites. I’m reallyexcited about this book and
can’t wait to share it with the world. Everything from the first two books are
going to tie together in this third book. Not only will the reader get to
discover what Paige really is, but there will be other shocking discoveries as
well.
What sets your heroine Paige apart
from all the other women in Nathan’s life? Why is she perfect for him?
Nathan doesn’t have any other women
in his life. He’s a tracker. He tracks dark spirits who dwell in soulless
humans. But when he and Paige meet, they feel an instant connection. There is a
reason why–they’re spiritually connected. Paige doesn’t really believe in soul
mates, but if it’s true Nathan is hers.
Have you ever had writer’s block?
How do you deal with it?
Yes, I have. I walk away from my
manuscript and read a novel. It helps bring back that creative spark every
time.
Describe a favorite scene in your
current novel?
When Paige uses magic to help her
best friend Carrie who slips into a coma. Paige does a ritual, cast a circle,
calls up the four corners, the whole thing. She then finds herself in a dark
realm where Carrie is and proceeds to help her. It’s really cool what happens.
What else do you have in store for
your readers?
I plan on writing more books. I think I’m in
this for life. LOL
Here are what people are saying
about the Beyond the Eyes trilogy: Here’s what people are saying about it:
Book 2-FANTASTIC! Book
1-Beyond the Eyes, and Book 2-Dark Spirits are the best read I’ve had in a long
time. They are not what you expect when you start out. Book one captivates you
and reels you in. Book two is full of action and suspense. I can’t wait for
book three to see how this story ends. I have enjoyed every word and will have
to re-read them again. Very Exciting!
Dark Spirits was a thrilling read
that kept me coming back for more! Dark Spirits is a very entertaining book
that pulled me in from the beginning.

If you could have the power to
control evil, would you want it?
In a rainy, misty town filled with
moss-covered trees and dwarfed by wooded mountains, Astoria, Oregon, holds many
secrets and eighteen-year-old Paige Reed is one of them. She’s immortal, has
magical abilities she’s discovering, and harbors King Solomon’s power inside
her. With his incantations, she can control the dark spirits who lurk among
societies in soulless humans.
But her problems are mounting.
Her best friend slips into a coma,
and Paige must tap into her newfound powers—powers she’s unsure of—to save her.
Through this ordeal, Bael who once
commanded a legion of black souls, forces Paige to make a pact with him,
causing her to abandon the ones she loves. When she finds out where Solomon’s
spells are and tells Bael, she begins to have second thoughts about her
agreement with him.
Will she risk everything to claim
the spells that hold the power to control the dark spirits so she can enslave
him? Or will her one true love find her before she makes a horrible mistake
that could damage her for life?
And most importantly, what does the
Devil’s third mean and what is Bael really up to?
