2016 ended with a bang for me... I had three book releases plus a short story that went into an anthology toward the end of the year. Two of those book releases came in December. To say I was a bit brain dead by the end of the year is putting it mildly. I took most of December off from writing, and a bit of that hang-over spilled into 2016. So, it's been a slow start for me this year.
Fans are chomping at the bit for Mat's story in the continuing saga of the Yellowstone Romance Series. Many people in my Facebook fan group have already guessed as to who Mat is. I think I dropped enough subtle hints in Yellowstone Origins to make it easy to figure out. But, if you haven't, you will find out in Yellowstone Legacy, the seventh book in the Yellowstone Series. The story pretty much takes off where Origins ended, with Mat's vision in the epilogue.
In order to give my brain a rest from writing Legacy (lots of stuff to cover, plus a major twist that - hopefully - no one has seen coming), I'm also working on a fourth book in the Blemished Brides Series, and if that's not enough, I had a spurt of the moment idea for a brand new western romance series. So, I delved into the first book in that series. (More on that at a later date. If you are a member of my Facebook fan group, I've shared the cover and some excerpts there already) I hope to have this one done soon. Yellowstone Legacy, unfortunately, is taking a bit longer to write.
But for today, I would like to reveal the cover for Yellowstone Legacy, as well as share a quick teaser.
Sometime in the hours before dawn, the restlessness inside him swelled to where he couldn’t remain lying quiet any longer. He left his sleeping blankets, and headed toward the river, guided by the sounds of the water and the reflection of the half-moon that hung in the sky.
Images of his life as a boy, living in the future, mingled with the scene he’d witnessed in his vision. The angry shouts of his foster mother and father whenever they fought sounded like distant echoes in his head. The tender smiles of the woman from his vision pushed aside the unpleasant memories. Her soft eyes left him craving to see her.
Mat clutched the pouch around his neck. He must have walked many miles when the first rays of dawn broke through the darkness of night. The roar of the mighty falls of the Yellowstone mixed with the loud chorus of frogs. Loons called from the water, and wings flapped somewhere on the river. An eerie mist rose from the water to hover over the grasses low to the ground.
He pulled the pouch over his head. Mat’s hands trembled when he opened it. Carefully, he shook the snakehead-shaped vessel into his open palm.
